City Series: Toronto by dinyctis City Series: Toronto by dinyctis
Second of the series. The first one was New York City

Toronto is a city that is both romantic and active. If i had to compare it to New York City, then i'd say it's a mellow NYC. I actually wouldnt mind driving in downtown Toronto =P

Towards the end of August and first days of September, i was lucky enough to visit this city. Just like NYC, i had to make a poster about it. I included key things that i saw the most, like streets, landmarks, and subway stations for the most part. The subway is so simple compared to the multiple levels of the New York subway system!

Gotta like Toronto!

Yet the best thing about Toronto were the people that I spend time with. I truly respect you and cherish our times together :D

All Photoshop save for some 2D.

It rings a bell, now that you mention it. Still, every time I took the train to meet up with some friends, I had to get off at King =P

Toronto has never been so exciting!

I donno about the driving part, though; there are some seriously scary people there. And the rubbernecking.. Godde, the rubbernecking. x.x

Glad you enjoyed your time in my province, though. :3

Rubbernecking is a genetic flaw in all drivers! EVERYWHERE! You're driving just fine, then there's traffic. You then realize that there was an accident.....ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD and that your side was completely clear. People were just slowing down to take a look. :stab:

It's a really great design, highly dynamic and cool-looking. But soulless. I tend to agree with ~crazylynx up there - you got a lot of great building shots, but it's not the skyline or the downtown core that makes Toronto great, it's the neighbourhoods. Kensington Market, the Distillery district, College St., Roncesvalles, Bloor West, the Beach, Church St., Danforth and yeah, even Queen West. You got a bit of it with the shot of the streetcar (yeah, we're inordinately proud of 'em) but if you ever get up here again, you'll have to get someone to take you around proper. :)

Night's better for most of those neighbourhoods anyway, especially College. I suspect NY is like that too.

Not so much. For best results, its best to see them both during the day and at night. At night, you see a lot of lights, but you dont see the contrast in architecture as much, let alone the skyline. But yes, nights is usually really nice, especially after a rain and the pavement reflecting all the light.

But on my next trip to toronto, Ill be much more trigger-happy. In my travels, i usually dont worry about photography as much as enjoying the environment myself without having to slap a camera in front of my face =P

Our subways are waaaayyy easier compared to New York's XD You've captured some of the best elements of Toronto. Glad you liked my city! XD

you wouldn't mind driving downtown toronto?... are you sure about that? :p now I haven't personally driven downtown in NYC, but..it's pretty crazy here, god some drivers are impatient..did I say some? I meant all. it's insane. but I think all cities have their traffic madness.

oh yeah about the artwork :p it's awesome. so much motion and excitement! haha, and you got a fairly good all-round view of the city. the design is nice, only critique I have are some little things that stick out to me. like the places you chose, dufferin, ok yeah. king, yeah, but why not queen, I really only hear people talking about queen west, "have you been to queen west yet?" "do you know such and such a place on queen west?". it definitely sounds like the place to be, I've never actually heard anyone talk about king. and what about bloor, or yonge, I would've thought yonge would be up there, I thought i heard someone say it was the longest 'street' in north america, or the world! :P and the pic in the top right, while very nice, and featuring some of our nice buildings, it makes the city look sparser than calgary!

that's all, i'm just nitpicking. :D it's really nice..now make a Montreal one and I'll buy them both.

For someone who only visited, I think you got a majority of the major landmarks. I miss the place myself, and you have some really great shots too. Funny, it looks brighter and more colorful than I remember though... :)

Ive never actually seen working streetcars before. I think they're pretty cool. Their red contrasts with the overcrowded blues and greens of Toronto's modern buildings just like New York's yellow taxis contrast with the beiges and darker colors of its buildings :)

I rode one once. As for the subways....they arent too different than New York's. Except that in NYC, the drive doesnt tell you the next stop, they are displayed on a scrolling banner.
