Like Al Pacino would say in the movie Scarface, "Say hello to my lil' friend!"

This is my newest (and only) pet, Netis. I have no idea whether Netis is a male or a female, since it is a hatchling and there are no differences at this stage.

Netis is a green iguana (Iguana Iguana ), and seems to be quite photogenic.

I have always wanted a pet iguana, but i was under the impression that they costed about $400. But life has a way of turning things around and turning things for the better in the long run, here is the rundown:

Sometime in february, one of my car's rear tires went kaput. So i took it to the shop to get it fixed, naturally. I was told to wait about 45 minutes, and there is no way in hell that i would wait for 45 minutes reading magazines about obnoxiously modified vehicles. So i took a walk around and noticed a pet shop, so i decided to go in.

As soon as i entered the store, i was greeted by a cage with about 6 green iguanas, all hatchlings. I think i literally said "w00t!"
Sooo as im looking at these wonderful reptiles, i come across the wonderful price tag of........$40!!

A month later, i have a pet iguana. Why a month later, you ask? Because we actually designed and built its habitat from scratch. And it doesnt look like a half-assed job, either! it's got doors, removable tops, its made out of glass, it has wooden accents, it looks pretty spiffy and im proud of the job that my father and i have accomplished. For a rough estimate, it is a 200 gallon tank (44 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 40 inches tall).

Hmm what else.....oh yea, did i mention that Netis is veeeery docile and loves to crawl on my arm? he/she licks me a lot, too.

I used my trusty little Canon A40 to take these pictures, and I am surprised that they turned out like this.

Yea, a few weeks after I bought her, they dropped down to $16. But they were a lot smaller.

really? even the monster ones go for cheap out here, but that's because no one knows what they're getting into when they get them. i was going to buy a huge cage from cagesbydesign.com, but i let someone take care of my guy after he got a cut on his leg(from escaping) and he got sick and died, because they were too afraid to take him out and put on his antibiotics :(
