Wallpaper version of Red Leap. I rarely do wallpaper versions of posters, but this time, i figured: what the hell.
Here is the original: [link] This is probably one of my most minimalistic space scenes. Note that it doesnt even have a sun, and the stars are really simple. Why did i bother submitting this, considering that my average deviation is 10 times more complex than this? there are 2 main reasons: 1) As you all probably know, today (August 27th, 2003) Mars is "only" about 36 million miles from Earth. This might sound still really far, but its 5 times closer than a few months ago. This is due to the fact that Earth and Mars synchronized their orbits, which happens once every 60.000 years. Why is this important and what does this symbolize? well think of it this way: No matter the race, country, religion, political party, hair color, eye color, age, social status, or gender, when looking up there i knew that millions of others were looking at the same thing, simply as earthlings. Its a way of uniting everything, even if just for one moment. This also symbolizes that space and technology, sooner or later, will bring us all united and we will just be "one." 2) This is a homage to my computer. As i write here, the mail truck is coming here to deliver the final parts to build the new computer. This computer is about 2 years old, and i started doing computer graphics with it. But now its time to upgrade, and it will now serve my parents for Internet surfing disaster. I also submitted it because when looking up at mars, it was very simple, there werent any weird lights, or nebula, or moon, nothing. Just a dark sky with a red star. So i think this minimalistic piece kind of reflects that. Also i included the Earth and the Moon in there, to give a sense of scale, and to make you feel small, yet not insignificant (although thats up to you) Believe it or not, this piece took me 1 day to make. If i had to duplicate it, it would barely take me 2 hours. But it took me a day because i was playing and trying different compositions, until i settled for the classy symetric one. Yea call it a waste of time, but i originally planned to make no more space art with this computer, until i changed my mind yesterday I hope you enjoy it, at least a bit |

I kinda like the "pale" outlook of the wallpaper.
Usually too complex and texture-full wallpapers draw too much attention.
And what comes to the starts, they usually look just like that when you look at the milkiway with bare eyes. Not too bright, not too complex.
Putting this to a wallpaper form was in my oppinion a really good idea.
Surtenly on the top 5 of your submissions.
And that automatically leads to +fav
Keep it up!
It's minimal, yet very aestetically pleasing to the eye.
As some people have already said the minimalistic feel to this image is bloody great.
Nice.
la verdad a mi me encanto ver marte,
se me hizo muy padre
