Tell me about your artwork

Description

I remember, back in the earlier days of deviantArt, when some people would get blasted for writing ellipses as their description. It was considered lazy and it bugged the hell out of many of us.

It still bugs me, especially when the artwork is good. I mean, if you're going to upload a piece of work, why not tell us a bit about it? And this is anything: digital art, traditional art, photography (photographers are big offenders in this category), and writers as well.

It feels as if you're just throwing it out there without much care. Yes, there are instances where you should "let the artwork do the talking," but even that kind of work deserves a bit of a description; perhaps about how you came across the idea, how long it took you, etc, etc.

But maybe that's just me: the kind of guy who watches the making-of features on DVDs and likes to dive into the creative process along with the people who make stuff that I hold in a high regard.

This is pretty bash-proof, isn't it? I'm bitching at you because I like your work and you won't tell me about it

And yes, Daily Deviations without a description are a bummer as well. Good for the artist for getting exposure but no write-up? Come on! And yes, flounder is the weapon of choice. Unless, of course, it's two stingrays tied by the tails to make a stingray nun chuck.
